An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a given Internet site. Every file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have a single page with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for each of the six files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log typically provides the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Occasionally you could also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your site. The information which an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the overall performance of an Internet site, independent of the web statistics which your server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Web Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your cloud web hosting account and go to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to each domain/subdomain. If the option is enabled, you'll see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective immediately, so if you no longer require one, you can stop it with simply a click from the exact same section of the Control Panel. You shall still be able to access the already generated content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our advanced hosting platform will create access logs for any website hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this feature is enabled. All domain names and subdomains that you have shall be listed inside the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which we offer with all the accounts, so if you'd like our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should simply click on the little button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You'll be able to deactivate this function anytime by following the exact same steps. You can find a Download link for each and every log within the very same section of the Control Panel, so you can save the content generated by our system in .txt format with simply a mouse click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the option has been disabled, so you will still be able to view the data that has already been generated.
